7 month old puppy loss of appetite, itching & scratching a lot lately- loosing some hair in those spots?

We adopted a black lab/pitbull mix puppy in April from a local humane society, right now we’re guessing shes probably around 7 months old.. It seems like the poor puppy has been on pills since we got her. She had a bad runny nose for a month when we got her (kennel cough) the vet put her on antibiotics. About a month after that we started noticing a light greenish colord discharge on her right after she’d pee. Took her back to the vet, they tested her and sure enough she had a urinary tract infection. And now.. for about the last month maybe a little longer we noticed spots on hair loss on her side of her back legs.. and that she was scratching and itching a lot. Shes on heartworm prevention & flea control every month. Shes never outside by herself, or outside for an extended long period of time (we live in Florida). We stopped taking her to the dog park (vet said its infested & not a good place for puppys) & shes been checked for fleas- no fleas. Yet again the vet gave her more antibiotics, a skin vitiman, & some other kind of pill. I am sick of shoving pills down my puppys throat. Shes been on science diet puppy food since we got her- thought maybe she became allergic to her food or treats.. we switched it up.. she loved her food before.. then just acted like she had a loss of appetite (still very playful when we go outside or play with the dog toys) other than that she just seems tired all the time and doesnt mind sleeping A LOT! Switched her food- shes acting the same, goes and sniffs it, maybe takes a small bite, walks away, eventually eats it 4 hours later,or more.. She loves peanutbutter & crackers though (this is how we give her the pills & we know thats not whats making her itch. I switches the laundry soap I wash her bed in, to gental baby delicate soap- her antibiotics are almost gone, another 2 days.. shes still the same.. anyone know what it might be? Please let me know.. thanks
SHES BEEN ON SCIENCE DIET FOR LARGE BREED PUPPYS. WE SWITCHED UP HER FOOD ALMOST TWO WEEKS AGO INCASE SHE BECAME ALLERGIC TO THE SCIENCE DIET. WE ASKED THE PEOPLE AT THE PET STORE FOR A GOOD PUPPY FOOD- TOLD THEM HER SYMPTOMS, ECT.. WE DONT CARE THE EXPENSIVE PRICE FOR THE FOOD WE JUST WANT OUR PUPPY BETTER..(we switched her to WELLNESS lg breed puppy food.) THE VET DOESNT SEEM TO KNOW WHATS WRONG WITH HER JUST WANTS TO KEEP GIVING HER PILLS. NOTE* SHE WAS FIXED WHEN WE ADOPTED HER
OH & WE’VE ALREADY TOOK HER TO TWO DIFFERENT GOOD VETS IN THE AREA. NOBODY KNOWS WHATS WRONG WITH THE PUPPY. SHES BEEN TESTED FOR MANGE, DEMENTIA, ect.. So now Im asking if anybody knows on here?

Wow.that definetly is NOT normal i have a 7 month old dog, and he has none of those effects on him.

well, i know a solution for the shoving pills down your puppys throat heres a link:
    http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001BS4G6O/ref=asc_df_B001BS4G6O872682?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

those are for pills.you put the pill in between the treat, and your dog eats the treat and gets the pill.

Anyways,i think your doing everything right.Maybe your puppy is sad or something, but it sounds like your taking really good care of her.

I don’t know about the peanut butter and crackers though, so again please check out the link.

the discharge isn’t normal at all!

    is she spayed?

    Best of luck!!!

i work for a dog food company… you’d be amazed at changing her food will do for her.. first of all if you’re feeding her a cheap food, switch up and start feeding premium. not science diet, not iams, not eukanuba. i want you to go to blue buffalo, nutro, royal canan high quality. yes it’s expensive but check the ingredients. switch her food flavor. stop the chicken and beef. switch her to lamb, venison, fish or they even make a vegan type. make sure there is no corn, no wheat, no soy. all of these things are allergins to some dogs.(not all) there will always be some chicken fat in products because the companies use it to bind ingredients together. if you are using sometype of rug freshner when you vaccuum stop this also. you must at least try and switch her food. you cannot continually give her anitbiotics. go to a reputable pet store and ask the clerk about different foods and animal allergies. don’t ask the vet he will recommend science diet since he and the company work hand in hand…… please at least give it a try for the poor animal… just wash her blanket in hot water for now.. make sure that she doesn’t have mites, or fleas….. also when you change her food make sure you get for large breed puppy it is designed for her hip joints and long legs labs are notorious for bad skin by the way

Sounds like allergies to me, but I would take her too a different vet. Maybe one who has more experience in allergies. You may also want to consider getting her tested for whatever it could be. I am not a vet but it could be possible it is not allergies.

It could be a food allergy. Corn is the number one ingredient that causes food allergies, but I have a friend who’s dog is allergic to peanut butter and one that is allergic to chicken. Has your vet done a skin scraping to rule out Demodectic mange? Here is a link to an article about it. http://bostonlove.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6098
As for the eating that could be normal. My dog used to be a gulper when we got her but when she hit about 7 months old she would do like your dog and nibble then eat later. She is 4 now and even though I put her dinner ( dry kibble) down at around 6pm she doesn’t eat until 10 or 11pm.
