@alanbauman My hair is just starting to go, my grandfather (dads side) had the Mr. Burns look, and my moms dad has light hair but not really balding. I got Rogaine 5% foam, but im kind of scared to use it because people tell me it will cause more hair loss before gaining hair? So wouldnt it keep making me lose hair, even after it re-grows it? If im wrong about the hair loss, should i do propecia and rogaine together?
@junglemage666 Good catch! This patient lost hair in the non-transplanted area because he was NOT on Propecia or other non-invasive treatments, which were recommended! He eventually will need another hair transplant to fill in those areas. The best treatment is combination treatment! In the hair transplant, the transplanted hair is permanent, it’s taken from the back of the scalp, not the top of the head.
but… at 3:00 to 3:10 the guy looks like he lost even more hair at the top of his head, but gained at the front… unless they removed hair from the top and put at the front? and then it grows in slowly?
Hair transplant is just to cover the bald area as this surgery can not replace natural hair density in one session.To change the look is basic idea of hair transplant surgery

@coldbluerain From the clip, it sure seemed like his colleagues and his wife don’t agree with you! A hair transplant’s not going to turn you into a teenager, but most people look significantly more youthful and healthy with hair.
@crazyredlion4500 Without propecia, you will certainly lose more non-transplanted hair over time. If you’re ok with more transplants and you have enough donor hair, no problem. Most patients commit to propecia for the ‘long haul’ — especially if they’re undergoing a hair transplant!
@crazyredlion4500 WHOA! Who told you that? I think you’ve got some wrong info there. If you only took propecia for a year, you’d only stop future hair loss for a year. Male Pattern Hair Loss is a chronic, progressive condition–it gets worse without treatment. The transplanted hair is permanent, but your other hair is not. Propecia stops the otherwise inevitable progression of the loss of the non-transplanted hair.
@alanbauman Thanks for the information. I have been reading on the internet about the use of Propecia with hair transplants and it is my understanding that you need to use Propecia for one year after the transplant. Would that be correct?
@crazyredlion4500 Without Propecia, hair loss will likely continue. Data shows that 75% of men NOT on Propecia will look “MUCH WORSE” 75% of the time over the next five years. Without Propecia, you are taking a risk, in my opinion. You might need additional procedures if hair is lost behind or between the transplants over time.
@alanbauman I have question. I have no hair loss at all on my crown and I am almost 39 years old. I am getting a hair TP in about 2 weeks. I am having hair added to the front only and I have been told that I did not lose very much. I realize that later in life I may still lose more hair. But if not will I still need Propecia? Thank you.
