In ‘Regrowing Eden’ the performance artists reflect on the manner in which society interacts with nature, and in particular with genetically manipulated plants. With gene-technology, humankind designs new life; nature is artificially created for specific purposes. In their artistic work, they examine this concept and investigate the public discussion of this new technology, until now in three countries. In the process they cross the line between artificial and natural and combine installation and performance, science and art, Switzerland – Brazil – Vietnam.
About the Artists
Hina Strüver received a Master of Fine Arts from Braunschweig University of Art, majoring in object art, installation and performance. Since completing her Masters degree she has carried out various art projects and scholarships in a number of countries. Mätti Wüthrich graduated in Environmental Sciences at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich. His path as a performance artist has since traced the line between science, environmental politics and art.

Building Compost Bins at Delta Delta Delta

Regrow Eugene is a campaign of the Climate Justice League at the University of Oregon with a goal to introduce and increase sustainable neighborhood composting programs in Eugene. Starting in the places where students like us live, like fraternities and sororities, and moving out into the communities that we share with all of Eugene. We see this as a very important first step towards decreasing landfill and changing the way we all approach our waste.
