Does AMINEXIL help my hair grow faster after chemotherapy?

Hey, I’m Nicole, I’m 17 and I just finished chemotherapy for Hodgkin’s Disease a week ago. I only have a few hairs left, but they’re very thin and frail and lost all colour. I used to have thick, dark, straight, beautiful hair, and I want it back fast, if possible.

I’m using Aminexil vials from Kerastase, and Kerastase Hair Loss Prevention Shampoo. Will these products help my hair grow back fast, or am I wasting my money on this expensive treatment for nothing?

(I also started taking SOLARAY Hair Blend, capsules. Do you have any idea if these have any effect?)

Thank you so much for your answer.

Love,
Nicole

Using a gentle, pH balanced shampoo is the best thing you can do. I’d trim those few remaining and go with a fresh start.

I used a mild face wash until there was enough hair to really merit using shampoo.

Be very gentle with the hair as it grows back in. No harsh products or dyes. Pat your head dry after showering.

You have to be very gentle with the new hair. It is fragile like and soft like a baby’s hair.

Be patient. You should see some growth within a couple of weeks. At first it’s like an aura around your head when there is light behind you … then the aura becomes a soft fuzz. I had people rub it for luck (like Buddah’s belly). I swear that made it grow faster.

I think a good source of protein daily will help your hair grow, but I wouldn’t take any supplements.

As a fellow Hodge survivor, I just let nature take it’s course with my hair. I was one of the lucky and didn’t lose all of my hair, but I had to cut it pretty short and not mess with it. It was very brittle and thin and looked like horse hair, but I never had bald patches. I used baby shampoo for a long time after. I finished chemo in April, rads in June and my hair started coming in fast and furious and super curly the following March. So it will come back, trust…it just might come back really curly.

Aminexil can help you get stronger, fuller & thicker hair. You can start using it after completing the last chemotherapy course of treatment. Research has shown that two treatments are adequate (42 bottles for 42 consecutive days / 6 weeks). This is said to be enough to prevent hair loss.

I’m not really sure on how effective Solaray Hair Blend is, but from their literature, they contain Saw Palmetto, which is a promising natural solution for hair loss.

I would say not to use chemicals on your hair. Why don’t you go for some home remedies. Egg whites, lemon juice, oil massages, reducing stress and diet changes can reduce hair fall and make it healthier.
