Dr. David Samadi – Fox News – Male hair loss

Dr. Samadi discusses how hair loss affects 60 million men and women. Male pattern baldness, or androgenic alopecia is caused primarily by genetics – up to 95%. The same goes for women. Five percent is caused by stress, illness, disease or chemotherapy. Polygenic alopecia means that the trait is inherited from both parents, though it can skip a generation. Thirty percent of men by 30 have hair loss, 50% of men get it by age 50. Androgenic alopecia starts in men as a receding hairline, towards the temples. The most severe kind results in a horseshoe pattern whereby the whole top area of the hair disappears. Alopecia Areata is where the hair falls out in patches. It is temporary, reversible and easy to treat. It’s usually a result of poor nutrition, illness, stress or medications like anti-hypertension, beta blockers, cholesterol, coumadin or zantac. The male hormone testosterone DHT actively affects the follicle and can shrink base of hair, resulting in hair loss. Proscar prevents DHT formation and allows hair growth. An ingredient of proscar is propecia which can affect PSA screening results so it’s important to disclose this medication to your doctor.

maybe they are just being polite. put your head down under bright light. i’ll give you the honest opinion.

@orangedac Just because you are a hair loss sufferer, normal people who don’t obsess with hair can’t tell I’m balding, when I tell them they’re like “WTF it’s all in your head man” lol

    4. orangedac says:

      @fredlebelge

i can tell quite easily from this video that you are balding.

put your head down facing the camera in bright light and i’ll point it out to you.

    5. fredlebelge says:

@orangedac Haha, I’m less bald than two years ago, NOONE can tell I’m balding in my relatives :-) , what do you say to that smart boy ;-) . Watch my other videos, I’ll NEVER be bald

medical science is a whole lot better than trusting some guy on the internet dreaming up a treatment for MPB.

5 yr propecia vs placebo trials show hair count numbers and hair shaft thickness is enormously different in treatment and control group. Hair loss is progressive and irreversable for the most part. The longer you spend on snake oil treatments and dreaming up cures, the less hair you have to save.

Once its gone its gone. You’ll be bald in 5 yrs is my guess.

@orangedac oh and mecical science is supposed to be unbiased, tests are run by pharmaceuticals that only care about how much money they can earn from those dangerous products, if I would have know, I would never have used Minoxidil, but I guess I’m a slave of this pharmaceutical nonsense now, they couldn’t find anything that regrows hair that you don’t have to use every single day of your f*cking life until you die with your minoxidilised. Sorry but I have regrown much much hair with my nonsense

If you want to believe people spreading nonsense, that’s up to you. Just be prepared to go bald following their theories & hair loss regimens. Once your hair falls out, you will not get it back no matter what you do. Even Propecia won’t bring it back. The time to save your hair is BEFORE it falls out. Unless DHT is shut down, your hair WILL fall out if you are genetically prone to MPB.

I prefer to put my faith in medical science and test results, not made up tales.

    9. fredlebelge says:

@orangedac Propecia is not a medicine for hair loss, it’s a poison, plain and simple, don’t spread comments like that please, I suppose you know the website propeciahelp?

    10. orangedac says:

i’ve been taking Propecia for 7 years now.

It put a pause on my hair loss.

In my opinion, if you are not surpressing DHT, you will go bald.

I’m now on Avodart (which is even better than Propecia).

I hope to keep the hair i have until a cure for hair loss finally arrives (which may be a long ways off).
