How can I treat an itchy scalp?

As part of a disorder I have, my scalp is really itchy. I know it isn’t dandruff related or lice, or anything like that. It isn’t flaky, but just itchy, especially where new hair is just starting to grow in. I already have a special shampoo and conditioner that I use to help with the regrowth, so that isn’t an option. What else can I put on my scalp to keep it from itching so much? Homemade treatments would be great since hair care products always seem to be so expensive.
Ok, I typed out details, and apparently no one read them. I already have a shampoo that I need to use for growing the hair. A shampoo change isn’t going to do me any good.

I also noted that it isn’t flaky and it isn’t dandruff. It isn’t really even that dry. It is not an allergy. It is just like this when hair is growing in and I need something to make the itch go away. Because if I scratch at it, the new hair gets damaged.

I’ve tried many products for my itchy scalp and and settle on Neutrogena T-gel. They have a good variety depending on what’s causing the itch. see:

      I use the original.

      Good Luck.

My treatment will probably flip you out. Cornmeal is a great treatment for skin problems. Lots of testamonials at dirtdoctor.com. Used it on a skin problem for my feet. Put about an inch in bottom of a plastic tub, added warm water and soaked them for 1 1/2 to 2 hours twice a week. After 2 weeks I could not beleive the improvement. Don’t know how to use it on the head unless you ground the cornmeal into powder and added enough water to make a paste. Probably make you look pretty wild during treatment. Anyway, hope this might be some help.

It depends if it is an allergy – another shampoo – or if the skin is very dry there.

If you have dry skin with heavy dandruff than you should go to your doctor who will give you some medical liquid with cortisone in. You have to use it twice a day for a week and it will be away.

try some motor oil like 30 weight that should do it.
