Japanese Salad Dressing Named Best Asian Marinade in Real Simple Magazine

May 18, 2009 – Tonton Vinaigrette, an authentic Japanese salad dressing and marinade, has been named best Asian marinade by Real Simple magazine in its June issue.

Real Simple, which provides information and strategies to make life simpler, features Tonton Vinaigrette in the Road Test column where products are evaluated by a panel of tasters. The June issue was released on May 15.

Real Simple tasters sampled 140 varieties of marinade in six categories, naming Tonton Vinaigrette as Best Asian Marinade. The magazine described the vinaigrette as “Redolent of ginger, garlic and a hint of apple, this pick was praised for the ‘surprising fruity flavor’ it imparted to meat. ‘So tasty I’d use it as a dipping sauce, too,’ a taster said.”

Tonton Vinaigrette’s natural teriyaki-style sweetness adds an Asian twist to marinated grilled meat, and works equally well as a dressing for salads or seafood, Burnham said. Tonton’s line of all natural Japanese sauces was inspired by the gourmet sauces Chef Yoshi Shioda created in his award-winning Charlotte restaurant, Tokyo. Shioda began bottling the sauces with the traditional flavors of his homeland to bring authentic Japanese cuisine to home cooks in the United States.

Other Tonton sauces include Tonton Teriyaki Sauce, Tonton Ginger Dressing, Tonton Sesame Dressing and Tonton Hibachi Steak & BBQ Sauce. Tonton Vinaigrette and Tonton Teriyaki Sauce have been selected as Silver Finalists in the 2009 NASFT sofi™ Awards Competition. The Vinaigrette and Tonton Ginger Dressing both previously have won NASFT Product Awards. The Teriyaki Sauce has earned first place in the marinade and gourmet categories of Food Distribution Magazine’s Annual Marinade Contest.
