the other day i forgot to let him at night (its cold around here, it was snowing that night) and when he came back in in the morning he had odd bites and loss of hair. his fur seemed hard and frozen (its soft now). what could’ve happened?
it was on the ears.

Frost bite or possibly he has been in a fight with another cat and that is where the loss of hair and bites have come from. If there is a chance of frost bite then you should have it checked by a vet.

Edit – If it was on the tips of the ears then it could well be frost bite and I think you should get it checked as it can be extremely painful and can become infected.
