my 3 1/2 month old pit bull is losing hair on his forehead, around his eyes, on the sides of his mouth and on his chest, the bald spots on his forehead are scabbing, I got him from the humane society when he was 3 months old so he has all his distemper and bordatella vaccinations, and heartworm and flee prevention and checked out healthy. I wonder if he has mites or something like that because ever since his hair loss got bad ive been getting rashes. Any ideas of what this could be?

sounds like manage if it is you take him back and tell them to fix it they shoudl have done that and seen it take care.
I don’t think it would be mites, but some dogs rub themselves raw until the hair falls out. I suggest taking him to the vet.
not sure ask a vet.
Take him to the vet now, don’t waste any time! The sooner they catch it the better his chances of recovery.
It is mange, there is a dip you can put him in to cure it. You can buy it at your local Co-op
Sounds like it might be mites/mange.. take him to the vet for a skin scraping.
Mange.
Like you said it could be mites or flees, what does he sleep on? My dog slept on hay for about 3 months and he got some kind of mold or something on his skin, he lost all the hair on his under belly. We got some cream from the vet and it went away in like 2 weeks time though.
Edit: mange thats what it was, thanks TKS
take him back to the humane society. sounds like demodex mange (but of course, could be other things), but they usually have a low cost clinic there to help you out, especially since you have only had him a few weeks
get him checked by the vet. He might have mange which is caused by mites and some forms of mange could be extremely contagious.
It does sound like, and probably is MANGE, not manage. Mange is caused by mites, a parasite that cause hair loss, itching, and sores. You must take the dog to the vet soon to avoid further hair loss, and start a medication to make the dog more comfortable. Mange is often seen from dogs coming out of shelters, especially when we don’t know what they were previously exposed to. Good luck!!
it could be mites or possibly a fungus. my pit looses a little hair on his tail now and then, its been tested for mange but never came out positive. the best thing to do is take him to the vet and get it tested so you can get it treated.
Its red mange. When you think of a dog that people consider “man” dogs, you can usually say they are more prone to red mange. Red mange is genetic, its passed from one of the parents to the pup. you can get meds to make there hair come back. Anything that puts the dog into stress can make the red mange flare up and cause the hair to come out. other signs to look for with red mange would be redness or skin irratation, odors, scabbing, and hair loss. You can give them oral ivermectin, but it will need to have a heart worm test first. trust me i know i have a pit and the same thing happend! hope all goes well
Take him to the vet because you never know how serious it is. He could be allergic to something too.
This sounds like sarcoptic mange or demodexx mange. If you take him to your vet they can diagnose what type of mange it is by a skin scraping and then they can treat it with the appropriate medication. Mange is contagious so please don’t wait forever to take him!
