Some battles are worth fighting, others are best just to let go. You only have so much energy; use it where it counts.

I had this conversation decades ago on USNET (for those of you old enough to remember that). A programmer stated that he didn’t think that he needed to wear a suit to an interview.
His contention was that by not hiring him because of not wearing a suit, I’d be missing out on hiring the world’s best computer programmer. My response was that I didn’t need the world’s best computer programmer; I needed the world’s best employee.
There will be times in your career where you will have to play the game. Prove to them that you can. It’s not like they are asking you to compromise your ethics.
Show up at the interview, look around to scope out the dress code, and grow the hair back after you are hired.
